A design created by two different colorways, both of which appear in the warp and the weft.”

Log Cabin, Shadow Weave and More!

Log Cabin: a color and weave effect with a plain-weave interlacement. Two colors alternate in both warp and weft. Usually woven on a 2 or 4 harness loom.

Shadow Weave: a color and weave effect with vertical and horizontal lines. The interlacement is plain-weave with 2-thread floats at changes between vertical and horizontal lines. Usually woven on a 4 or 8 or more harness loom.

Skill level: This workshop is for those who know how to dress their loom but will accommodate (2nd and 3rd project) beginners through advanced weavers seeking both camaraderie and challenge. The project options are numerous. Come join this group for a weekend of inspiration.

Instructor Betsy Bruce: A weaver since 1987, Betsy taught "From Yarn to Garment" at Oberlin College, for 16 winter terms (January) where her students designed their own wearable projects, wove, constructed andmodeled their garments all within less than a month. More of a colorist that a structure weaver, Betsy enjoys assisting others exploring new techniques.

Supplies: Please bring your own dressed floor or table loom, your bench or comfortable chair, weaving gear including two shuttles and bobbins or pirns, bobbin winder (helpful), scissors, ruler or tape measures, tapestry needle, T pins, etc. Each person will also supply two or three cones of yarn (appropriate to your selected project).
